This seminar will provide an introduction to the themes and projects being pursued by the Artists’ Writings & Publications Research Centre (AWP), based within the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds.
It will pay particular attention to the relationship between contemporary art and libraries through a trio of case studies:
- a brief introduction to the 2018 PAGES research project in collaboration with The Tetley and other city-wide institutions by Artists’ Writings & Publications Research Centre co-founder Dr Chris Taylor;;
- a critical account of the exhibition The House That Heals The Soul (July-September 2017), which was developed in collaboration by Artists’ Writings & Publications Research Centre co-founder Nick Thurston and the Centre for Contemporary Arts Glasgow;
- a preview into The Tetley‘s 2018 programme focus on ‘the library’ from their Creative Director Bryony Bond and the gallery’s participation in the New North and South network, showing artists from Pakistan.
The venue is G.04 in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies. All welcome.
