Research Interests

Publishing as a way of distributing and a way of making; multiples and ready-mades; rules and the use of language in making art; hypnosis, automatism, extreme optical effects and other things on the margins…


Helping students to use critical thinking and the written or spoken word as tools in making art alongside the more familiar crafts.

Research Projects & Grants

Simon Lewandowski worked with Sam Belinfante to construct The Reversing Machine – a functioning time machine. This was installed at PSL (Project Space Leeds) in January 2014 in the new “Tetley” artspace in Leeds. A version of the project was previously shown in Berlin in 2012 and has received funding of £6700 from the Arts Council England and £1500 from The Elephant Trust. Sadly they were unable to travel successfully through Time.
